* La Chica at Rock En Seine 2019 *
I took a long break from attending and reviewing Rock En Seine festival (4 long years!) but finally this year i decided to go back and check it out again. And I wasn't disappointed.
During my 2019 visit, I got reminded why I love this festival: mostly for its amazing atmosphere, great organisation, and awesome line-up. But also because of its location very close to Paris and many cool stylish people that attend this festival: music lovers, who enjoy the music to the fullest and give it all when the artists they love is on the stage in front of them.
Rock En Seine is happening every year, since 2003, always at the end of the summer, at Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, at Château de Saint-Cloud's park just outside Paris, inside the garden designed by Le Nôtre in 17th century. In the beginning this festival was happening only during one day and had 2 stages and 10 bands. Nowadays, the festival lasts 3 days and features many local and international bands that play on one of the 5 stages: Grande Scene, Scene Cascade, Scene des 4 vents, Scene Firestone and Scene Ile De France.
Even if Gimme a Beat explores female factor on the festivals, I always check everything because this is my chance to also see some of my favourite (not always female related) bands and discover many new ones as well. In my short reviews on Gimme A Beat Facebook page I wrote about all the bands that I've seen, inclusive my highlights.
But in tonight's show I will focus on Sophie Fustec, aka La Chica, über talented Franco-Venezuelan artist who grew up in both the Parisian neighbourhood of Belleville and Latin America.
i loved everything about La Chica's gig. She is an amazing performer with powerful voice and great stage presence. I didn't understand anything she was saying (because she was singing mostly in spanish and speaking to audience in french) but I could feel the power of her emotions coming through her songs and performance. In addition, throughout her gig, she was radiating sexuality and femininity in the most natural way, without an ounce of vulgarity. What intensified it was her talent: her beautiful voice, feeling for a beat, emotional intensity of the performance and her authenticity. You can check my review and my impressions from her gig here and here
I had a pleasure to sit together with Sophie for an interview after her gig. We talked about her roots and inner journey that was itching to happen in last few years. Finally when it did, it made her stop with her successful collaborative career and look deep inside to enable her to move focus onto her true self and transform her emotional experiences into debut album Cambio.
